Reforming International Investment Agreements: An Action Plan
UNCTAD, IDB, SESRIC, ICDT and AMDI Training Course (Casablanca, Morocco)
UNCTAD in cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), t he Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), the Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT) and the Moroccan Investment Development Agency (AMDI) is organizing a training course on international investment agreements (IIAs). The course will assist the 56 member countries of the IDB in the design of IIAs that take into consideration the emergence of a new generation of investment policies.
In line with UNCTAD's Investment Policy Framework for Sustainable Development (Policy Framework) and UNCTAD's Roadmap for IIA Reform, the course will help policy makers and negotiators to deepen their understanding and analysis of the key issues in IIAs; the course will offer concrete options for the design and negotiation of new IIAs that effectively promote sustainable development and inclusive growth. The course will also focus on how to tackle the existing stock of IIAs. Over 60 participants from IDB member countries are expected to attend and contribute to the course.
The course will take place in Casablanca, Morocco, on 23-26 January 2017.
