The President signs National Defense Authorization Act into law
On 13 August 2018, the President signed the National Defense Authorization Act for the Fiscal Year 2019. Amongst other changes, the new Act expands the scope of inward foreign investments subject to review by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). The CFIUS will now have the authority to review certain real estate transactions, as well as investments that impact the critical infrastructure and critical technologies sector, even if the foreign acquirer does not have control over such businesses.
