Australia and Japan Signed a New Free Trade Agreement
Australia and Japan signed a Free trade Agreement on 8 July 2014 during an official ceremony at Australian Parliament House in Canberra. The FTA provides for substantive investment provisions including national treatment, MFN, prohibition of performance requirements, expropriation and transfer of funds. The investment chapter does not contain an investor-State dispute settlement mechanism.
