UNCTAD's Road Map for IIA Reform of Investment Dispute Settlement
United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has supported the development of a new generation of investment policies. One of its focus is to improve dispute settlement rules in international investment agreements (IIAs).
An article by Titi and Weber (2015), published in the New Zealand Business Law Quarterly, elaborates the two policy options prescribed in UNCTAD’s Roadmap for IIA Reform for an improved investment dispute settlement. The first option, is to live with investor-State dispute settlement (ISDS) by reforming it, while the second is to abandon and/or replace it with other dispute resolution mechanisms.
